your second one is much better.... a bit of advice on the first one: get that yellow thing out of there!!! You first one, is a bit unorganized, and well not really too interesting, no effects that grab your eyes. The second one, while very simplistic too at least has a much more pleasing layout. Keep at it - you're already improving.

Hello All,
I am currently in H1-B. My GC (EB2) is in progress sponsored by my company.
The I-40 is approved but me and my wife�s I-485 is still pending.
We both got our EADs, but we have never-ever used it. We just applied for it and kept the card.
My wife was also on H1-B through her own employment. She got laid off so she is losing her H1-B. Now I want to apply for her H4 as my dependant. Since she already has an EAD, will applying for H4 nullify the EAD? As I said earlier that she has never used her EAD however she plans to use it when she gets a new job.
Anybody in similar situation? Any remarks or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

One more question...if by chance, God forbid, we dont get our EAD renewal in time, will it impact my studies during the short gap that the new EAD has not come?

I'm in my 3rd year of my first H1-B which will be expired Sep. 2011.
If I transfer my H1-B now to another company, then do I automatically get another 3 years or do I have to file an extension after my H1-B has been transferred?
if you get transfer, new employer will have new LCA with new dates in it (as applied) and employer will fill I-129 with new dates. So when USCIS replies with I-797A there will be I-94 attached that matches new requested dates. So it will get extended to the end of new contract or 3 years, whichever happens sooner, because USCIS does not grant you presence for more than 3 years at once.

You will apply at the local SSA (Social Security Administration) office and not at USCIS. Your card will be mailed to you within 15 days in most states.
Please forgive my ignorance Gurus but I want to know when EAD is approved, how would one receive a SSN? Does that need to applied separately at the local USCIS office? If yes, then as per my understanding this would mean a further delay before one can start work, since it takes time to receive a SSN.
Correct me if I am wrong.
I am referring a common scenario for all H4 visa holders who do not have a SSN.
Please share some knowledge on this.

I got my first H1-B approval in 2008. I am originally from Mumbai and I have always got my previous visa stamps from the Mumbai consulate.
I paid my visa fees at an HDFC branch in Mumbai in the hope of getting an interview appointment in Mumbai this month. I am flying to India next week and I still do not see any open dates in Mumbai for the month of December. For some reason the VFS webpage displays open dates only at Chennai and Calcutta.
So the question... is it possible for me to visit the consulate in Chennai to get a visa stamp? Do I have to explain why I chose to come to Chennai instead of applying in Mumbai? Are there any other problems for people who choose a different consular district?
A quick survey on the US Consulate General - Chennai website only mentions to select the *most convenient* consular office. Right now I have at least one perfectly valid reason on why I should be granted an interview in Chennai.

No problem, because of the work NSC are transferring some cases to Texas. In fact, Texas center is issuing EAD and AP so fast. so your wife will get her EAD very soon.

if you get fellowship, you dont have to work. TA/RA has to work, which needs authorization. Just for taking classes should be ok...disclaimer applies :)

If you need any kind of corrections to your I-94, please visit your local CBP office. Website is www.cbp.gov. On this website search for Deferred Inspection locations and visit the nearest one.
CBP officer will give you new I-94 with the corrected name, I-94 validity date, DOB, class of admission etc...

Hello everybody,
Since my last post I have done a lot of research on this site and i think i have found the answer to most things. I am curious to find out if anyone has been in the same situation and have a couple of questions left.
1. Since now I am married but when my I-485 was filed I was single, do I need to ammend the I-485?
2. Do I need to let the attorney know that we are self filing for my wife?
